Humility is a slippery thing. Some say that as soon as you start thinking about how humble you are, you’ve crossed the line into pride. During that last week of His life, Jesus taught His disciples a valuable lesson about what it means to be truly humble when He suddenly got up from the meal and began washing their feet—a task normally reserved for the servant of the household. The disciples, notably Simon Peter, were shocked at this display, yet their response to Jesus’ demonstration of love revealed a great deal about their own humility.
